Dennis Miller

He won't run for Senate because it "involves moving to Washington, D.C., sitting in a room all day with a moron like Barbara Boxer." But he will host a show on CNBC and he answers 10 questions for TIME. My fave:

Who in politics inspires you? George Bush. He's been dealt an amazingly heavy hand of cards here, and I think he's doing his best ... Bush had the balls to start something that's not gonna be finished in his lifetime. The liquidation of terrorism is not gonna happen for a long time. But to take the first step? Ballsy.

The others are funnier. But I liked the directness of this one.

I have always been a Dennis Miller fan, even if I didn't always get his references, and I like his quote on George Bush, even if I am not his biggest fan. I can admit that I do admire his sense of conviction and even agree with many of his ideals, we just differ on methods of implementation. I truely hope Iraq flourishes. My biggest case against the war was that we would screw up the implementation of deposing a tyrant and installing a democracy. Let's face it, we don't have the greatest track record in the Middle East, often just backing who we believe to be the lesser of many evils, including Mr. Hussien himself along with the Shah of Iran and the Saudi royal family. I have to admire George Bush for trying something different over there, too long we have settled for stability, even if that meant stability under a long standing tyrant. Let's just keep working to see if we can get this one right.

Total agreement on Lord of the Rings!

Silence,

To quote Eddie Murphy in 48 Hours: "There's a new Sheriff in town!"

President Bush's Speech to the AEI was significant because he disavowed "50 years of appeasement of tyrants in the Middle East." I hate to say it, but he was blasting Dad as much as anybody.

I know you have your doubts, and I know it is difficult, and perhaps a longshot. But this President is dedicated to a new-Wilsonianism in the Middle East and I think it is at a perfect time.
