Curiouser

GOPUSA.com (might be a little biased a source, but this is checkable) reports: Kerry Anti-Terror Plan Removed From Campaign Web Site After Berger Revelation -- GOPUSA

Shortly after news broke that former Clinton administration National Security Advisor Samuel "Sandy" Berger was being investigated by the Justice Department for illegally removing highly classified documents from the National Archives, the presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) removed its anti-terror plan from its web site.

Republicans have suggested that the information contained in the documents was used to formulate Kerry's policy, but are limited in proving those charges because the material is still classified. The sudden disappearance of the policy from the campaign web site that coincided with Berger's dismissal supports Republicans' contention that the purloined data formed the basis of at least part of the Democratic candidate's homeland security program.

This whole story is pretty wierd. But I stand by my assertion that it's a fortuitous diversion for Joe Wilson.

Heh. It's not in the Google cache anymore, but a parrot of a poster in the forums reposted it.

I just read the Kerry plan and I can't discern anything he'd want to hide vis a vis Sandy Berger. Although I saw many things he'd want to hide for other reasons.

In addition to parroting the steps already being taken by the Bush Administration to defeat terrorism, John 1 promised (and now, I suppose, disavows) to do the following:

- Listed as the first option to destroy terrorists [sic] groups, which are the principle [sic] threat we face: Direct Military Action. "John Kerry will always be prepared to use military force when necessary to neutralize terrorists and drain the swamps where they breed." (Apparently he still believed Iraq was NOT such a swamp.)
- Enlarge the "peace corps" element of the US military.
- Enlarge the active duty military. (draft anyone?)
- Take "tough action" by imposing sanctions against Swiss banks.
- Give terror sponsoring states, banks and individuals the "prostitute 'John' treatment," attempting to reform their behavior by shaming them publicly.
- Give another $87 billion to Iraq.
- Give Afghanistan their own $87 billion.
- Launch a "War on Drugs" in Afghanistan.
- Establish new public schools in the Arab and Islamic world.
- Federal aid for the old "100,000 new cops" program, plus a new "100,000 new firefighters" program.
- Develop "designer antidotes" to save civilians in the event of chemical or biological attack on US soil.
- "Build Bridges" to the Arab and Islamic world by recognizing the "key challenge posed by burgeoning youth cohorts."

Go get 'em, tough guy.
