The Samizdata.net quote for the day is a little long for a bumper sticker, but I take 'em where I can find 'em.
George W. Bush is a lying, collectivist, protectionist, big-government statist and I despise him. The only, and I do mean only reason I want him to win the election against the other lying, collectivist, protectionist, even bigger-government statist who I despise is to see the stunned faces of those people on the left when they get their arses kicked. It’s an expensive 'cheap thrill' but I take 'em where I find 'em.
- overheard at a get-together of Samizdatistas recently
I'm not convinced Bush is a liar or a collectivist, or even a genuine protectionist, but the big-government statist rap has some merit. But there's another positive distinction Bush has over Kerry that is not mentioned here: Bush is a 'cowboy.' Cowboys know that the rustlin' won't stop until them rustlers get shot. They also know that good fences make good neighbors and that, "so long as I mind my own business ain't nobody got a right to tell me what to do." As far as perfect versus good enough, a cowboy knows if bailin' wire'll hold the gate shut for now then that's what I'll use.
